Abstract

Memetics is a theory that explains the laws of cultural evolution based on Darwin’s theory of evolution. There are significant cultural disparities between China and Western societies, where culture-loaded words, phrases, or idioms hold unique significance within each respective culture. The effective and correct translation of culture-loaded words plays an indispensable role in cultural transmission. Since there are relatively few studies about the translation of culture-loaded words from the perspective of memetics in the field of tourism publicity short videos, this research takes the culture-loaded words in Anhui tourism publicity short videos as examples and tries to analyze the translation strategies of culture-loaded words from the perspective of memetics. This study will expand the research field of memetics and provide useful insights for the study of Chinese-English translation of culture-loaded words to spread the culture of Anhui to the outside world.
